Definition of ROI

A percentage yield or ‘return on investment’ (ROI) is one of the most popular measures of an investment opportunity.

ROI expresses the profits from an investment opportunity as a percentage of its capital investment.

It is also known as ‘return on capital employed’ (ROCE) or ‘accounting rate of return’ (ARR).
